AVANT MAR
The new AVANT MAR hotel is located in a prime spot in Naoussa, Paros, right by the sea. The architectural study by Tense Architecture Network, led by NTUA Associate Professor Tilemachos Andrianopoulos, aimed to create an authentic high-standard hospitality space, uniquely integrated into the traditional settlement and the unique landscape of the Cyclades. The hotel features a contrasting composition of cubic prisms on the side facing the settlement and circular volumes in contact with the Piperi beach and its lush vegetation, among which a 55-meter-long swimming pool is developed. Through an elongated ramp with a glass boundary, the large pool seems to connect with the sea. The water’s blue-green color, the Cycladic white, and the sand hue make up the resort’s color palette—with the sandy tone extending to the floor materials, pergolas, and the common areas of the restaurant and spa. The spa, also circular, hides an internal, protected oasis of relaxation. A walk that begins at the entrance passes through the square of a small patisserie and continues over the successive planted roofs of the restaurant to ultimately offer the visitor a panoramic view of the Aegean blue and its northern breeze.
